The pain and the stiffness of joints of those with the debilitating condition of rheumatoid arthritis is a common sight, which really is distressing.  As we all know, it literally puts a full stop to their social life as they are not able to move around freely without help. The severe condition is known to last one a lifetime.  One can only reduce the symptoms with a change in lifestyle, medication or surgery.  Research is always ongoing to find the perfect remedy to stop these symptoms.

Ambitious research programs are ongoing to find effective means of managing the pain caused by Rheumatoid arthritis.  The therapeutic area to manage this disease has been seeing significant changes from the last few years.  New treatments are being researched which one hopes will provide the maximum relief with minimum side effects.

The scientists of the Northwestern University claim to have invented a non-toxic drug which can reverse as well as stop this debilitating disease.  This was published in the Science News on January 28th, 2010.  Professor Harris Periman , associate of the Feinberg School of Medicine, along with his team has tested this drug on mice, where 75% of them were cleared of this disease.  The best part being that there was no toxicity found in the mice after the treatment.

A new treatment for Rheumatoid arthritis in Ireland, RoActemra, from Roche is proving to be breakthrough in treating this incurable disease!   RoActemra is known to be the first medical treatment which has been produced for Rheumatoid arthritis.  With its new therapy treatment, RoActemra has been successful in providing fast relief for the symptoms of this debilitating disease.  The people who have undertaken this therapy has found relief while taking this treatment and half of them have even reached remission within a year.  The good news is that this therapy is tolerated well by the users.

DMARD treatment is also known to produce good result in patients who have rheumatoid arthritis.  According to the study report on June, 2008, by the Annual Congress of the European League against Rheumatism in Paris, 50% of the patients got remission by taking a systematic step up treatment of DMARD for only 36 weeks.  So, the indications are that achieving remission with this treatment is possible.

Dairy milk and milk products have been known to aggravate the conditions of rheumatoid arthritis.  According to the British Journal of Rheumatism published in 1997 and the British Medical Journal, removing milk and milk products have been known to remove the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis completely.  The moment the patient starts taking milk products, the pain symptoms have known to appear immediately.

I agree that there is so much pain that comes with rheumatoid arthritis. I have found that managing my food and not eating things that cause inflammation has really helped.
